Blackball Rugs, Wellington, New Zealand

For the prestigious MinterEllisonRuddWatts law firm in Wellington, New Zealand, Ascend/CRONZ was proud to supply two custom Blackball rugs for their new office space. This project was designed to reflect the firm’s values of professionalism, warmth, and sustainability.

The Blackball rug, one of Ascend’s most innovative creations, was selected for its unique combination of durability and understated elegance. The rug’s structure features three custom colors, with two highlight threads tufted vertically and the main color tufted horizontally, creating a beautifully flecked design. The final texture is achieved through tip shearing, giving the rug a dynamic blend of loop and cut pile stitches for a multi-dimensional appearance.

For this particular project, the firm chose a sophisticated green palette, adding a natural, calming presence to the office environment. The result is versatile, durable, and acoustically functional rugs that enhance the professional yet inviting atmosphere of the space. The Blackball rugs provided not only an aesthetic solution but also contributed to the acoustic performance of the office, ensuring private and confidential spaces for both staff and clients.
